The ‘Trek to Chopta’ is one of the most beautiful and popular weekend treks in the Garhwal Himalayan region and is best suited for fit first-timers and beginners in the Westen Himalayas. The hikes on this trek, are fairly easy, rich in Himalayan Flora and Fauna and also offer magnificent views of Greater Himalayan peaks. On this trek, one also gets the opportunity to camp amongst one of the most beautiful and serene campsites amidst nature. Thus offering peace and relaxation that we all quench for.

Trek Itinerary 

  • Day 01: Drive from Dehradun/ Rishikesh to Baniyakund (Chopta) (2430m) (Drive 215kms, 7-9hrs) Day Highlights: Enjoy the scenic ride & don’t miss out stopping at Devprayag (which is the confluence of two holy rivers Alaknanda & Bhagirathi to form Ganga). We recommend you to even take a short halt at Rudraprayag (Rudraprayag is one of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River, the point of confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini. On reaching our beautiful campsite just rest and relax to imbibe the beautiful vibes this place has to offer Meals: Evening Tea & Dinner onlyStay: Overnight stay in Baniyakund, Chopta (Deluxe Swiss Tents with attached washrooms on sharing basis)
  • Day 02: Drive from Baniyakund to Chopta Market (2608m) (Drive 5 km, 10 mins) & further start your Trek to Tungnath (3680m) (Trek 4kms, 4/5 hrs) upto Chadrashilla (3840m) (Trek 1.5 km, 1hrs) & descend down to Chopta (Trek Down) – Drive back to Baniyakund campsite                      Day Highlights:
For first-timers this trek is a great way to discover the joys of trekking in the Himalayas. Tungnath Temple, is the Highest Temple of Lord Shiva and ironically the easiest one to achieve. Trek to Tungnath & Chandrashilla Peak Summit (Guided Trek/Hike) Chandrashilla summit serves as the vantage point that offers panorama 180 degree view of the greater Himalayas Evening at leisure Bonfire at Campsite (if weather Permits & at extra cost) Meals: Breakfast, Packed lunch (on request & extra chargeable), Dinner & evening Tea & snacks Stay: Overnight stay in Deluxe Swiss tents at Baniyakund (Chopta)
  • Day 03: Drive from Baniyakund to Sari village (Drive 20 km, 45mins) & hike upto Deoriatal (2438m) (Trek 2 kms one side, 2hrs) – Trek back to Sari Village Day Highlights: Hike to Deoriatal Lake. This is an emerald lake perched at a height of 2438m above sea level. The lake is situated amidst a lush green inclined field surrounded by dense forest. Just sitting beside the lake and watching clearly the reflection of mountain massif like Mt. Chaukhamba (6200m) on the lake is a rewarding experience all together, on a clear sunny day. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, Dinner & evening Tea & snacks Overnight stay in Guest House at Sari.
  • Day 04: Drive back from Sari to Dehradun (Drive 252 km, 7-8hrs) After Breakfast we head back to Dehradun Your trip Ends Here. Looking forward to having you back again with us on more such exciting trips and experiences
